Never Easy is the new single from This Is The Deep, introduced via their debut album Everything (Dick Herman, The Whale and The End of the Beginning, via 5db Records. Strings, fuzz, and wah-wah guitars surround Hannah Tilson and Ranny Macdonald’s shared vocals, adding a buoyant surface to a story of circled frustrations and a struggle to understand each other in a relationship.
The band explains:
“Never Easy is a song about a relationship between two people that isn’t working. It’s a story where both sides feel like they’re going round in circles and are so exhausted they’re losing the thread of what exactly they even mean. In the context of our concept album this is a dream vienette, a flashback to our protagonist’s past”
Founded by Macdonald, the London collective brings performers from Brazil, Japan, and home turf, blending orchestral folk with chamber-pop psychedelia shaped by art-rock avant-garde.
