There is something timely about Georgia Scarlett and Joel Spence’s latest collaboration, ‘Honey Let’s Go’. At a point when so much of daily life is spent staring at screens, absorbing bad news and trying to keep pace, the Australian country artists make a simple suggestion: switch off for a while and remember who is actually beside you.
Following their earlier collaboration ‘The Wise Folks Say’, the pair sound particularly comfortable together here. Spence opens the track over acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonica before Scarlett enters, turning the song into a conversation between two people trying to find their way back to something more grounded.
That back-and-forth is central to ‘Honey Let’s Go’. Rather than treating disconnection as some grand modern crisis, Scarlett and Spence bring it down to the scale of a relationship. The lyrics acknowledge the pressures and distractions building around them, while the arrangement gradually opens into piano, slide guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums.

There is no attempt to reinvent country music here, and that works in the song’s favour. ‘Honey Let’s Go’ gets its point across through warm instrumentation, easy vocal chemistry and storytelling that never needs to become overly complicated. In a song about escaping modern noise, Scarlett and Spence wisely leave enough room for the sentiment itself to come through.
