From Bordeaux, France, Quintana Dead Blues eXperience return with Ashes, a raw and unrelenting new album landing June 26, 2026. Rooted in blues-rock-stoner-alternative, grunge, and stripped-down rock’n’roll, the project of lifer Piero Quintana pulls from both sides of the Atlantic, somewhere between the weight of Sabbath, the abrasion of Nirvana, and the French lineage of the duo The Inspector Cluzo, Trust, and Les Thugs. After decades spent circling the edges of rock’n’roll, from early bands in the ’90s to years alone as a one-man wrecking crew, Quintana now returns backed by drummer Adrien Schiavone as a stripped-down, full-force duo. The result is heavier, looser, and far more volatile, a record that leans into instinct over perfection and keeps everything right on the edge of control.

Written and recorded over three days in January 2026 at Silver Recordings in Bilbao, Spain, the album captures that edge in real time. Produced, recorded, and mixed by Martín Guevara of CAPSULA, the sessions were tracked almost entirely live, with minimal separation and no safety net. You can hear it in the bleed, in the push and pull between instruments, in the moments where things threaten to derail but don’t. Quintana’s guitar work is thick, saturated, and restless, while his vocals, less treated than before, sit exposed in the mix, carrying the full weight of the songs without disguise. Tracks like “Spell on Me” and “Wild as Fire” move with a kind of blunt force momentum, riffs that stick and drag, rhythms that feel closer to impact than groove. “Still Haunted” leans into a darker, more spacious tension, while their take on “School” pulls Nirvana through a heavier, more abrasive lens. There’s a physicality to it, like stepping out of a packed room into cold night air, sweat still clinging, ears ringing.

Somewhere underneath the volume, there’s something more human sitting in the cracks. A worn-down honesty that comes from years spent chasing sound without compromise. Quintana has always operated just outside the spotlight, moving through projects, cities, and phases without settling. You can almost picture the in-between moments, flipping through dusty records in a worn leather jacket, chasing a sound that never quite sits still. Quintana Dead Blues eXperience don’t clean things up, they lean further into the mess. Ashes is loud, physical, and immediate, a record that trades polish for impact and comes out stronger for it.
