Ever ready to unapologetically shock audiences, Black Prussia, for their first release of 2026 after a strong debut last year, have decided to tackle ‘Love Story’. With riotous distortion and raw vocals in a gritty alt-rock package, the Berkshire duo are by no means limited by the source material.
Originally released by Taylor Swift, the release is now louder, biting and raucous. Shedding its polished origins, vocals are rough-edged and urgent. The rock n roll spectacular breaks out into searing guitars and full-throttle drums. There’s a rip-roaring solo to boot. A softer moment bursting into the final chorus key change of the original certifies the concept’s legendary status and makes the Black Prussia pair all the more charming.
Black Prussia was formed in 2017 and was reborn in 2023 after a brief pause. Tanaka Mapepa and Winston Alla carry a sound rooted in classic rock attitude but sharpened with a modern edge, with the influences of Motörhead and Sex Pistols in their DNA. Their third single release may be a cover, but is nonetheless an electrifying insight into the disruptive nature Black Prussia thrives on.
