MSTRY explores heavier territory with his new single ‘Not The Same’, featuring vocals by Nina Arya. His second single, following ‘Electric In The Air’ released in August of this year, moved between suspended tension and heavy drops within a 140 BPM dubstep framework, with Arya’s lyrics addressing disconnection from political leadership.
Discussing the single, MSTRY explains:
“Not The Same introduces the darker, heavier side of my production – the sonic space where I feel most at home. Balancing gritty, atmospheric sounds with a careful attention to melody, the track serves as a defiant statement. Featuring powerful vocals by Nina Arya, the rebellious lyrics explore the frustration of feeling entirely disconnected from the people who lead us.”
After years of engineering and producing across genres, MSTRY is now developing his own releases, following his debut ‘Electric In The Air’ and its Beatport support on their editorial lists. Arya brings BBC Radio backing and festival experience to the collaboration, helping introduce another dimension of his sound ahead of a planned EP release.
