Dublin indie pop-rock artist Taylor D recently unveiled her new four track EP Bad Decisions on the same day as her 21st birthday, which marks the start of a brand new era for the artist.
Following her debut EP, this EP sees Taylor move towards a darker and heavier sound, combining indie pop-rock with grunge and alternative influences.
The focus track of the EP, ‘Obsession’ sets the overall tone for the EP, pairing Taylor’s guitar-driven sound with a direct approach to songwriting.
The track explores the intensity of becoming fixated on someone and the effect that can have on your thoughts and emotions.
‘Obsession’ sees Taylor D begin with an electrifying instrumental intro before leading us into emotionally powerful lyrics as the Dublin artist dives head first into her new era.
Speaking about the EP, Taylor D says “This EP feels like the real beginning of who I am as an artist. Turning 21 and releasing it on the same day feels incredibly symbolic. I’ve grown so much since I started making music, and these songs reflect where I am now, more confident, more honest and completely unafraid to say what I mean.”
The EP follows the release of her highly successful single ‘Goodbye,’ which focused on leaving behind people and situations that have had a negative impact and followed Taylor’s recent run of Irish radio with over 200 plays in just two weeks of release and support from BBC Introducing, who previously described her as “Dublin’s answer to Avril Lavigne.”
Her career to date has also included headline shows in Dublin and London, more than 2 million streams across her catalogue on spotify, and four #1 position on the iTunes Rock Chart.
