Grammy-nominated electronic music prodigy ford. today shares “In My Eyes”, the fourth and final single from his highly anticipated sophomore album The Color of Nothing — out October 16, via ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective.

“In My Eyes” is another sonically expansive track from the hotly tipped artist, blending minimal synth waves with a midtempo beat and acoustic-electronic sounds. The track features vocals from Canadian streaming sensation and close friend VERZACHE, who is one of the hottest rising names and was due to go on tour with mxmtoon this year before COVID-19 hit.

An intricately designed illustrated visual helmed by Mitch Pond sees cartoon versions of the two friends explore a dream-like world together, bringing to life the reflective, relatable lyrics they created together to explore the bittersweet feelings that come with growing up – their bond shining through in both the lyrics and video.

Speaking on the track, ford. shared: I began writing this track back in February of 2019. A year later, I finally had a flushed-out demo. Quarantine had gone into full effect and one of the things keeping me grounded was Facetiming my friends. I would check in with Zach (Verzache) and we would have these long conversations about mental health, missing touring, and how quarantine was affecting our writing processes, etc. I remember sending him this demo on one of our calls and he sent back a full finished verse the next day. The lyrics and melodies channelled a lot of the themes we had been talking about and it immediately resonated with me. Immensely grateful for dudes like Zach and every opportunity I get to make music with close friends; nothing quite like it.”

Meanwhile, director Mitch Pond shared these insights into the video: “Seeing the wonderful cover art done by Rooovie made me want to create a video that stepped into and explored that world. The imagery of a figure approaching and being submerged in a lotus filled lake brought to my mind the concept of creativity as a sort of diving expedition into the self, searching in the dark for something to bring to the surface and share with people. Coordinating a shoot from different locations was the biggest challenge, and I am grateful that Luc was willing to go out in a public place and do things like spin around in circles or pretend to swim so that we could get the footage some of the trickier effects.”

At just 20 years of age, ford. has quickly surfaced as one of the brightest crossover potentials. On the cusp of greatness, ford. has been cutting through over the last few years with streaming hits like “Bedford Falls” and “Craving” alongside remixes for major acts including Bearson, Ashe and Kasbo – resulting in a colossal 35 million streams and half a million monthly listeners. As well as achieving weighty support on Spotify’s Global Viral Charts and US New Music Friday, the producer extraordinaire has been championed by major tastemakers including Billboard, Purple Sneakers, Dancing Astronaut, UPROXX, FAULT, This Song Is Sick and Acid Stag, alongside a coveted Coachella set and in-demand tours with some of the hugest names on the scene including Madeon, Jai Wolf and Maribou State.

The Color of Nothing is sure to continue ford.’s ascent to prominence and comes after a whirlwind 12 months for the bright young talent – notably a Grammy nomination for his remix of Mild Minds’ “SWIM”, plus the well-received collaborative EP GOOD COMPANY with fellow critically acclaimed producers Sonn and Hanz.

Born in Paris to American parents, raised in Frankfurt, Switzerland, Singapore and now residing in Utah, ford.’s global upbringing has been instrumental in shaping his musical perspective. Although only 20, ford. has been consistently surrounded by different cultures, ideas, and languages; these eclectic life experiences can be felt deeply through ford.’s music, a sound which even the most passive of listeners can hear and feel an emotive connection resonating throughout his music.

Unfolding before global audiences, ford.’s fanbase and acclaim continue growing with each release – “In My Eyes” proving another exciting insight into The Color of Nothing.
