Released on January 13, 2022 by @lowbr label, “DTenorio’s New Year’s Eve Special” EP rescue memories of a generation that learned the first steps of dance with Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake and so many others.
I personally pay attention to many artists who are doing a good job, developing their own identities such as DTenorio. Andrew Tenorio is a 25 year old DJ and music producer who is searching for his place in this industry. A consistent studio work and a growing number of gigs have played an important role on his development as an artist, as we can see in his latest release, the one we are listening here today.
I’m bringing sexy back… Them other boys don’t know how to act… How not to move with this sound? DTenorio brought out “Justin Timberlake – Sexy Back” in a groove-filled Tech House remix. This is DTenorio‘s first EP and the classic “Benny Benassi – Satisfaction“ is the second track. The chorus is universal but the outfit is totally ‘brazilian bass’ and in its few more than four minutes. It’s a sure shot on the dance floor. After that, a remix of “Black Eyed Peas – Shut Up” which gets more serious until, around a minute or so, the chorus immortalized by Fergie starts but is interrupted by a deafening bass in an increasingly latin melody. To finish, the remix of “Komodor – Electrize”, the most recent song chosen by DTenorio to be in the EP, released in 2017. A remix that added space and night atmosphere to the original track.
As you know, one thing leads to another and this release granted the artist an invitation to release an original song, soon in same record label. To know a little more about this EP and the artist, DTenorio answered a few questions. But first, let’s listen to “DTenorio‘s New Year’s Eve Special .
Thank you for this interview and congratulations for the good music you have brought to us! Please, comment the inspirations for the remixes presented in this EP.
“I literally went back in time with these songs. They all have an important meaning. I’ve always been passionate about music and these were part of my childhood and the school parties. Each snippet of these tracks brings back great memories and I decided to apply a more current context on my remixes.”
How would you describe your remixes?
These are simple and objective songs that shows my references and my sound identity. I worked for almost a year to produce all the tracks and it matched perfectly with my EP release plan.
Technically, what did you use hardware and software?
The builds are based on Tech-House Organic and digital drums, free samples and own recordings, plus Serum, Sylenth, Operator and Ableton Live 11 synths.
You’ve been establishing a regularity of releases and we’d like to know more DTenorio’s 2022?
It’s true and this year will be no different. In fact I’ve been working hard in the studio to release even more songs soon. With the reopening of the events industry, the number of shows is also increasing and I hope to be able to take my music even further. Thank you!
