Released last August 11, 2023, by D-Edge Records, the EP Wolves & Candlelights, by ZEO, has two original solo mixes: Wolves & Candlelights and Acid, a collaboration with André Gazolla.
Techno, ritualistic, immersive and dancy. The Wolves & Candlelights EP is a profound and unifying experience. The EP portrays the impact of the artist’s experience with DMT, a psychedelic substance belonging to the tryptamine group, similar to serotonin and melatonin, all three being derivatives of the amino acid tryptophan.
ZEO is now in solo career and was known for the duo Flow & Zeo which established an international career with gigs in Croatia, Sweden Portugal and many cities in Germany, performing at LOVE PARADE for 1.2 million people in the streets of Essen – Germany and clubs as Mission, in Sweden, Hangar, in Berlin, Light House, in Essen, Night Map, in Frankfurt, Maxim, in Cologne and Home14, in Dusseldorf.
Now, ZEO celebrates the fourth release of his solo career, which has a more, “profound”, let’s say, origin, as he comments:
“Oh man, what a journey! I had contact with this medicinal substance through Bufo in a ritual conducted by a Mexican shaman which led to this whole creative process.”
Alright! That’s cool, I can imagine if ZEO had created the visuals as well! The vocals are the conductors of this song, a testimony about a trip during his “treatment” with 5-MeO-DMT. So, it’s a very intense and sometimes also psychedelic first track for this EP.
ZEO recently performed at D-Edge, the legendary club in São Paulo where he is a resident. If the roots in Rio de Janeiro are quite clear, it is the international experience that has weighed more on his sound in his solo career: dynamic, with a lot of groove, energy and fluidity.
Among the references for the production of Acid, there is a vocal by Ram Dass, but there is much more, they are multilayered that touches the sensorial.
Something that came to life in the invitation for André Gazolla‘s contribution to the EP. The artist added the groove and a very deep perspective. A techno with tech-house influences, very danceable and in some ways even psychedelic. Full with synths, DMT and LSD experiments translated using Logic Pro X.
