My Twisted Heart features a delicate mixture of styles on the emotionally charged “idontneedyou (with Outside YP)”.
Hyper pop meets hip-hop, My Twisted Heart holds nothing back on the strength of “idontneedyou (with Outside YP)”. A clever balance between the organic and the electronic the song has a great soulfulness to it. Verses are spit with fire and fury. There is a vulnerability to the message one that conveys pure tenderness. With this wanting, yearning presence to it there is a soothing series of textures that weave themselves together. Great flourishes of color emerge on throughout further adding to this sense of depth. Every reiteration adds to the sense that this is a song that becomes ever more realized with each passing moment. Nor does the track overstay its welcome for its tight arrangement keeps things on the pop level clocking in at under three minutes.
Acoustic guitar samples introduce the work. Looped into a rather mystical trance, when the rest of the piece hits it hits hard. Beats go for the bass side of things for they delve deep into the red. Percussion snaps for there is a tautness to the entire experience. Nods to 1000gecs emerge on throughout, especially regarding the vocal treatment. Within the verses themselves, a sense of confessional yearning further makes sure that the sound gets close to the listener making sure every slight variation matters. By keeping the acoustic guitar melody above the rest of the din, there is a duality to it that feels awe-inspiring.
