There’s something quietly powerful about an artist who keeps coming back to the core of why they started, and with his third studio album, Let’s Try Again, Will Foulke does exactly that.
Blending rock, pop, and blues into a richly textured 13-track offering, Let’s Try Again feels like both a continuation and a turning point. It’s a record built on emotional honesty, where polished production meets raw, reflective songwriting, and where every melody carries a sense of lived experience.
Foulke’s musical journey began early. At just 12 years old, he picked up his first acoustic guitar and quickly fell under the spell of legendary players like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. That early fascination didn’t just shape his technique, it sparked a deeper drive to carve out a sound of his own. Fast forward six years, and Foulke has developed a distinctive pop-rock-blues identity, crafting his music out of Truphonic Studios with a growing sense of purpose and precision.
With over 180,000 Spotify streams and two albums already under his belt, Foulke has steadily built momentum. His debut, Charleston Blues, introduced listeners to his multi-instrumental talent, with Foulke performing every part himself, an impressive feat that highlighted both his technical skill and creative vision. Since then, his work has caught the attention of tastemaker outlets including Atwood Magazine, Americana UK, Earmilk, RTE Entertainment, Urbanista Magazine, and The Other Side Reviews, alongside an appearance on The Mike Wagner Show.
Now, Let’s Try Again sees Foulke expanding his sonic palette without losing sight of what makes his music resonate. The album leans more confidently into rock and pop production, while still threading through the bluesy undertones that have become a hallmark of his sound. Across the record, themes of heartbreak, personal growth, and the complicated act of moving on unfold with sincerity and nuance.
There’s a clear reverence for classic songwriting here. Influences from Paul McCartney, Jeff Lynne, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles can be felt in the album’s melodic instincts and structural elegance. Yet, rather than sounding nostalgic, Foulke channels these inspirations into something that feels current, balancing timeless sensibilities with modern production techniques.
Tracks like “Fresh Air” and “Take A Little Time” offer moments of introspection wrapped in warm, melodic hooks, while the title track “Let’s Try Again” captures the emotional push-and-pull at the heart of the album. Elsewhere, “When Your Love Runs Out” and “Melting Away” lean into vulnerability, supported by layered instrumentation that gives each song a sense of depth and movement.
Behind the scenes, the album is brought to life by a tight-knit team: co-produced by Foulke alongside Elliott Elsey, mastered by the renowned Vlado Meller, and featuring contributions from Noah James (keys), Alex Brouwer (drums), and McCarthy Fitch (bass). The result is a cohesive yet dynamic body of work that feels both intimate and expansive.
