Music Premiere: Make Out Monday Take Listeners ‘Back to the Feeling’ with Retro-Infused New Single

Music Crowns is thrilled to premiere Make Out Monday’s latest single, “Back to the Feeling” — a nostalgic, 80s-inspired anthem that fuses shimmering synth textures with the band’s signature pop punk edge.

With ‘Back to the Feeling’, Make Out Monday transport listeners to a cinematic dreamscape steeped in neon nostalgia. Written by Zack Shada, Seth Renken, and Ezra Behrens, the track began as an acoustic idea before evolving into a full-bodied production, helmed by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, and mastered by Ted Jensen.

Drawing influence from 80s icons like Tears For Fears, The Cars, and Don Henley, the single bridges past and present — balancing upbeat rhythms with a heartfelt longing for moments that can’t be relived.

“It’s about trying to return to a time, place, or feeling you can’t get back to,” says frontman Zack Shada. “We wanted it to sound hopeful even in its melancholy, like rewinding the tape of your life.”

Adding to its nostalgic pull, the song includes a playful nod to Back to the Future, which the band will celebrate live on October 25th at a special 40th anniversary event at the original Twin Pines Mall filming location. The accompanying video — featuring a DeLorean and a trip through the band’s own memories — brings the connection full circle.
