Music Crowns is proud to premiere Chris Arthur’s deeply personal debut album, Underneath The Scar.
Underneath The Scar, a ten-track debut album, was produced, recorded and mixed by Eric Sanderson, co-founder and multi-instrumentalist of Augustines. The album follows Arthur through the collapse of a relationship and the emotional journey that followed. Across its songs, grief gradually gives way to reflection, resilience and, ultimately, hope.
Arthur did not originally set out to make an album. As the songs began pouring out, he recorded them as voice memos and shared them with a small circle of close friends. Sanderson was among those who recognized the potential in what Arthur was creating, with their friendship and musical history providing the trust needed to bring the project into the studio. “Eric believed in what I was doing before I fully believed in myself,” Arthur says.
That vulnerability is at the heart of the album. Rather than hiding behind elaborate production, Arthur lets the songwriting carry the weight, creating an intimate and organic introduction to an album built around emotional honesty.
For an artist who spent years just outside the spotlight, Underneath The Scar represents a significant step forward. Originally from Buffalo, New York, and now based in Southern California, Arthur has transformed a deeply personal chapter into something listeners can make their own. With this release, he opens the door to that story, and Music Crowns is delighted to give you the first listen.
