Watch Kelela play one of ‘The Sims’ in her new ‘Frontline’ video

Kelela has unveiled a new video for her track ‘Frontline‘ in which she plays a Sims-like video game character.

Frontline‘ is taken from her excellent debut album, Take Me Apart, which featured the tracks ‘LMK‘ and ‘Waitin‘. The concept for the new video was developed by the singer herself alongside Mischa Notcutt with animation direction and visual effects from Claudia Maté. The video sees the Londoner cruising a virtual city in a Mercedes and getting high and attending Sim parties with other characters before finally travelling to an alien-like terrain. Watch the visuals below.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Kelela explained: “With this Sims-like video, I was able to tell my story in a light-hearted but dramatic way. It’s about leaving your ex with the wind in your hair while acknowledging a curiously complex feeling of pain that he has left you for a white woman.

Kelela had previously shared visuals for her track ‘LMK‘ and released Take Me Apart last year.
