The Streets‘ Mike Skinner has penned a new song for Alexa Chung to coincide with the launch of the new ALEXACHUNG range via mytheresa.com.
The Original Pirate Material icon has been busy working on his The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light guise but has emerged to work on ‘In My Head‘ with Alexa.
Skinner, who is set to direct the visuals for ‘In My Head‘ will also co-star in the full video. Alexa Chung explains: “It was so lovely to be reunited with Mike after all these years. I’m a huge fan of his and was at the time we made our first video together when I was I think 20 or 21. I suppose a lot has happened in the intervening time but it was nice to see how little he has changed.”
She continued: “He’s very funny and clever and was an amazing director to work with because he managed to create very natural moments with someone who doesn’t know how to act. He wanted to explore that sort of Lost In Translation connection moment that happens between strangers sometimes where you have this great experience because of happenstance and it’s wonderful and special but sort of isolated and disconnected from your life path. I think he’s so good at observing human behaviour and unveiling the truth and that talent comes through in both his music and in this video he has made.”
Skinner added: “A long time ago when things were very different I spent a few days with Alexa making a video for my song COULD WELL BE IN. So much feels different now that I thought it would be fun to use the footage as a flashback. The location for the video was Lismore castle where I’ve been dreaming of directing something for many many years.”
“Imagining how the story might happen in real life, I imagined we could both end up there but in different ways. Me DJing at my club night TONGA, and Alexa campaigning for her beautiful clothes.”
