VÆB level up with chaotic new anthem ‘GAMERBOI’

If reality feels like too much, VÆB have a solution. Log in, press start and enter ‘GAMERBOI’.

The silver-clad Icelandic brother duo return with their explosive new single ‘GAMERBOI’, the latest taste of their upcoming debut album VÆBOUT. Fusing emotional pop songwriting with Gen Z absurdism, internet-core humour and full-throttle dance production, the track captures the rush of disappearing into a digital world where nothing else exists but the next level.

Formed by brothers Matthias David Matthiasson and Halfdan Helgi Matthiasson, VÆB have been creating together since childhood. What started with homemade iPad films and chaotic ideas quickly evolved into a hyper-colour pop project that thrives on unpredictability. Their breakthrough moment came from a joke TikTok about a rapper eating cabbage that spiralled into viral success, setting the tone for their anything-goes creative energy. Since then, alongside producer Ingi Bauer, they have crafted a sound that feels nostalgic and futuristic all at once.

In 2025, VÆB exploded onto the global stage with “RÓA”, a euphoric electronic sea-shanty that took them to the Eurovision Song Contest and became the second-most streamed Icelandic Eurovision entry ever, behind only Daði Freyr’s “Think About Things”. The momentum has not slowed down.

‘GAMERBOI’ taps directly into late-night gaming sessions and livestream culture. Built around playful 8-bit textures inspired by classics like Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog, the track is packed with glitchy nostalgia, massive hooks and tongue-in-cheek self-awareness. Beneath the chaos, it explores escapism, obsession and the strange romance between player and screen.
