Thomas O’Shea captures the chaos of coming of age in the digital era with debut album Generation Z

Listen Here: Out Now!

Rising artist Thomas O’Shea announces the release of his highly anticipated debut album ‘Generation Z.’ Blending elements of pop and alternative, this self-produced project dives deep into the chaotic, exhilarating world of coming of age in the digital era, capturing the essence of Gen Z life with unflinching honesty.

Inspired by the highs and lows of growing up as a Zoomer, Generation Z weaves a narrative through each track, chronicling everything from the pervasive influence of the internet to the complexities of hookup culture. Thomas O’Shea explores feelings of hopelessness amid a barrage of once in a lifetime events happening weekly, the suffocating grip of mental health struggles, and the double standards in heart wrenching love stories, including a couple of poignant breakup and love songs. This album stands as the most emotional music he has ever created, born from personal experiences, conversations with friends, and keen observations of the surrounding world.

The journey to Generation Z began in January of last year, with Thomas O’Shea handling every aspect of writing, producing, recording, and mixing in two different home studios, fresh from his college graduation. After multiple rewrites, changes, and cuts to the storytelling, the album was mastered by Stefan Brown at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. Through this release, Thomas O’Shea not only showcases his multifaceted talents as an artist but also shares his perspectives on topics often left unspoken. His aim is clear: to forge a connection with his generation while offering older and younger listeners a window into the unique challenges of Gen Z upbringing. Thomas O’Shea, a record producer, songwriter, audio engineer, and artist hailing from Madison, Wisconsin, crafts a sound that fuses pop, hip hop, R&B, and EDM. Born Yoon Young Hoon and adopted from South Korea by an Irish American family, his musical spark ignited as a child watching the church pianist on Sundays. This led to piano lessons at age six, singing at age seven, crafting his first beat at 13, and penning his initial song under the alias TY’O at 14, a passion that has never waned.

Holding a degree in audio production and music business, plus a certificate in music composition from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Thomas O’Shea built his skills through diverse ventures. While in school, he produced for artists nationwide, co-founded and produced for his band Let Them Eat Cake, experimented with music using sounds from plastic bottles and TikTok memes, and collaborated with Billboard-charting and Grammy-nominated producers. He studied solo piano and chamber music with Dr. Eli Kalman, music composition with Dr. Ed Martin and Dr. John Mayrose, and audio production with Nathan Edwards.

Since graduating and shedding his stage name, Thomas O’Shea‘s solo work has garnered acclaim from international blogs, magazines, radio stations, and curators, with his productions, remixes, and sound experiments reaching hundreds of thousands globally.
