The Ragged Flags unveil ambitious double album project: ‘Projections / Reflections’

Listen To ‘Projections‘ Here / Listen To ‘Reflections‘ Here – OUT NOW!

The Ragged Flags are about to shake things up with not one, but TWO new albums!

Dropped on September 1st, 2025, ‘Projections / Reflections’ is a daring double release that showcases the UK four-piece’s boundless creativity and genre-defying spirit. This alt-rock, indie rock, and alt-folk powerhouse is serving up a sonic feast.

Following the success of their 2023 album Homecoming, The Ragged Flags found themselves at a creative crossroads. Songwriter and vocalist James Goodwin pushed for a stripped-down, acoustic vibe, while bassist Chris Edwards-Dewey championed a full-throttle rock record.

After some lively band debates, they decided: why choose? The result is Projections, a high-energy rock ‘n’ roll juggernaut, and Reflections, a tender, acoustic masterpiece.

Available individually, this release is a love letter to fans who crave both fire and finesse.

Projections is a no-holds-barred rock explosion, with drummer Paul Whibley pummeling his kit and Chris Edwards-Dewey laying down melodic basslines that pulse with energy.

Lead guitarist Mark Aldworth unleashes his punk-infused riffs, making every track a fist-pumping anthem.

Meanwhile, Reflections trades volume for vulnerability, featuring delicate acoustic guitar, elegant rhythms, and a Ragged Flags first: ukulele. The band’s signature three-part harmonies soar across both albums, tying their eclectic sound together.

The albums are also tied together and exemplified by their cover art: each piece is a unique image in itself, but which can be put together to form a larger picture.

Thematically, the albums dive deep. Projections captures characters bristling with defiance and raw emotion, while Reflections explores introspective, accepting souls. The band’s knack for “unexpected” lyrics, praised in reviews of Homecoming, shines through in both records.

The titles hint at this duality, loud versus quiet, outward versus inward, creating a cohesive yet contrasting narrative. With three studio albums (‘Let It Roll [2016],’ ‘Whiskey’s In The Water,’ ‘Water’s In The Well [2019]’ and ‘Homecoming [2023]’), two live albums, two EPs, and a decade of original Christmas singles under their belts, The Ragged Flags wanted to push boundaries.

These, their fourth and fifth studio albums, deliver distinct personalities that still feel like two sides of the same coin.

Fans of James and Paul’s former band Echotone, will be thrilled to hear guest vocals from Melanie Moffatt on Projections track ‘All The Birds.’

It’s a nostalgic nod to their roots, blending seamlessly with the band’s fresh sound. The Ragged Flags, James Goodwin (vocals, guitars), Mark Aldworth (lead guitar, backing vocals), Chris Edwards-Dewey (bass, banjo, backing vocals), and Paul Whibley (drums, percussion), formed in London, united by their love for rock, pop, folk, country, and blues.

Projections / Reflections are preceded by the double A-side singles ‘Love Like A Heart Attack / The River Was Dry’ and ‘Our Fathers’ Sons / Say The Word.’
