The Moontown Project are back with their new single ‘Moon Honey’, taking their eclectic brand of alt-indie to yet more genre blending heights. The Leeds via London duo, consisting of long-time friends and collaborators Will Swain-Smith (vocals/ guitar) and Guy Molony (keys/ bass/vocals) tackle disco with their latest track, with Swain-Smith’s bouncing guitar reminiscent of Nile Rodgers as it demands you move as you listen. Molony’s wandering bassline and meticulous synth is also essential in making this song irresistibly smooth and inherently catchy. While they aren’t afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves, ‘Moon Honey’ feels modern in every way as it seamlessly takes influence from a variety of genres in a subtle enough manner as to show the writing skill of the duo. Techno, house, hip-hop and funk are all apparent throughout the track and showcase why the band are essential to look out for in 2021.
