Stale Jan continues a high-octane 2026 singles run with ‘Bully Me’, a track that opens with a full-bodied alt-rock guitar melody, which then scales into a bright and energised climax of fuzzy tones and intensifying drum rhythms.
The first moments set the sonic scene, a twenty-second overture for the track ahead, before we fade into the real introduction. A muted guitar line, an intimate vocal. The quiet doesn’t last long, swiftly moving into a colourful array of rock band sensibilities. Circling around the groove as we continue, it provides a release to the tension in the melancholy of the vocals. Becoming sharper and more punchy as we go on, synthesisers begin to glow at the edges.
On the themes of resilience and self-assuredness despite adversity that the track details, Stale shares, “Bully Me” is a sharp, emotionally grounded anthem about quiet strength in a world that rewards noise, dominance, and ego. The song flips the usual power fantasy on its head, telling the story from the perspective of someone raised to be kind, fair, and considerate, only to watch louder, meaner voices rise faster and get rewarded. The lyrics mirror a world where the loudest voice wins the room, truth is optional, and empathy is mistaken for weakness.”
Debuting in 2024, but seriously ramping up his output over the past few months, the Norwegian songwriter has brought clear structure and memorable melodies to the sense of atmosphere underneath. Collaborating with artists across the UK and the US, pairing his abilities with theirs, the sound is settling into a clear sonic direction.
