Sonny E. Bends Space and Sound with “Time”

It takes a special kind of artist to reinvent themselves after reshaping an entire era of music but Adamski has never been one to play by the rules. Now returning under the alias Sonny E., the legendary “Acid House & NRG King” has emerged with a sound that’s as unpredictable as ever. His new single, “Time”, sees him swapping warehouse euphoria for something entirely new: Cyberbilly.

A self-described “teddy boy timelord,” Sonny E. fuses the twang of vintage rockabilly with the limitless possibilities of AI-driven production. The result is futuristic, nostalgic, and delightfully unclassifiable — a sound he calls “augmented reality rockabilly.”

I know there’s an infinite number of songs about time,” Sonny E. explains, “but not as many as there are about love, sex, or dancing — so I’m happy to add to the tradition. It’s taken me half my life to complete this song, one or two lines every few years. I’m in no rush and very satisfied with the result.

“Time” feels expansive, a microcosm of Adamski’s lifelong fascination with sound, subculture, and the human condition. It’s both playful and profound, bridging the gap between 1950s swagger and post-human experimentation.

Growing up amid a collision of rockabilly, psychobilly, electro, and acid house, Sonny E. absorbed decades of musical rebellion before helping define the UK rave explosion. Now, decades later, he’s distilling all that experience into something raw, personal, and forward-looking.

After spending three decades igniting dancefloors worldwide, Sonny E. has stripped it all back to the essentials — a laptop, a mic, and a wild imagination. The result is Cyberbilly: music that travels from 1955 to 2099, colliding eras and aesthetics with the swagger of someone who’s lived it all.
