Sofia Gobbi unveils pop-rock anthem ‘idk’

One of the many exciting alt-pop artists springing up in London with a rockstar bite, Sofia Gobbi has received her fair share of praise since she debuted in 2022. Her single ‘That Ass!’ became a quick favourite amongst fans, drawing in more listeners than ever before and teeing Sofia up for some tastemaker praise and radio airplay.

A formidable songwriter, set to release her album Bigger Man in the new year, Sofia is sharing her sound once again with teaser single ‘idk’.

With a main riff that struts around the soundscape, Sofia steps into this alt-rock soundscape with pop aesthetics. Taking a gentle, tuneful vocal and layering it delicately into choir-like harmonies, she transforms a gritty underbelly into an anthemic bop. The choruses shine with sonic infectiousness, and Sofia positions herself alongside the likes of Nieve Ella and Olivia Rodrigo in terms of quality and star power.

She shares, “This song came from that feeling of being scared when something good happens, when part of you can’t help but wonder how long it will last before it’s taken away. I kept returning to the parallels between falling in love and being a criminal – the nerves, the sweaty palms, the knot in your stomach, and that lingering fear that what you’ve gotten away with might be stripped from you. Writing it was my way of working through the fear of self-sabotage, outside opinions, and the fragility of happiness. At its core, though, the song is about celebrating that even if a relationship ends, you still ‘got away’ with that person for a time—and that’s a beautiful win no one can ever take from you.”
