‘Snowflakes’ sees Rahul Suntah conjure up a delightful and calming piano arrangement

Mauritian composer, music producer and classical crossover pianist Rahul Suntah has unveiled a new original piece from his new upcoming piano album revealing the best ones before releasing the album.

‘Snowflakes’ made from 100% piano sounds and inspired by his winter days in the UK, whilst also carrying a hidden symbolism and reflection behind it:

“Dedicated to all those who have been feeling introspective and emotionally distant lately, as symbolised by Winter.

Sometimes we go cold just to heal and that’s okay. Even Winter has its own kind of beauty. Choosing yourself is part of the journey.”

All the sounds you hear were made with an acoustic piano using various piano extended techniques to make it sound like other orchestral instruments, such as harp, bowed strings, triangle, sleigh bells in addition to the keys.

1) The last time we interviewed you had just collaborated with Rebecca Seziba and that was in 2023. What have you done since then?

A lot has happened since then. I moved back to Mauritius. I started working on a new show template and a new original album which I’m excited to finish and finally release later this year.

I’ve had several sold out shows in Mauritius so far. I had the fun opportunity to perform with the French and Mauritian based Moris Orkestra for their 3rd orchestra academy and I’m composing and performing with them again for their 4th one coming up in April this year.

I also had the opportunity to perform for the first time in India back in December and I performed with talented Mumbai based singer Rajesh Panwar for a special concert in Mauritius.

I am very excited be performing there more in the future and I am also making my return to the UK very soon as well.

2) Are there any other collaborations in the pipeline?

Yes definitely, more collaborations with some major artists are incoming which I will be revealing soon.

3) What’s next for you musically?

Finishing my new upcoming album which is due to be released in September. I’m also preparing for my new upcoming shows in Mauritius and abroad and working on some collaborations as well.

And as usual, I am working on more special piano covers of iconic songs that had an impact on me. The next one will be dedicated to Bollywood fans.

4) What are you currently up to when not recording in the studio or performing?

Rehearsing, teaching, travelling, going to the cinema, going to the gym, attending festivals
