Shadows of a Silhouette’s debut album statement, ‘For Those That Know’

It’s been hotly anticipated by their fanbase, and recent teasers have drawn a new wave of attention towards the Derbyshire band. Now, it’s finally time for Shadows of a Silhouette to unveil their debut album, For Those That Know.

The delivery is thunderous, a mix of grunge grit and alternative technical prowess. Shadows of a Silhouette’s signature sound has always been intentional in calling out to their working-class roots, and the album epitomises that with a ranged exploration of the moments of honesty and electricity that crop up inside their sound.

Even across the relenting acoustic or softer rock moments, the band carry a riotous energy, always keeping rawness at the core of their production. They move confidently across the boundaries and influences, balancing an unstoppable hunger with a hard-won sense of perspective.

Sharing some words on the project, Reece explains, “Since starting as teenagers in a garage to becoming who we are today, you can feel and hear the development of the band in this record, musically, emotionally, and spiritually. The stories of our youth and the maturity and ambition we’ve consequently gained from the experiences we’ve been through together are doused all over this record.”

Nathan explained further, “Most of all, we wanted to trust ourselves, each other and our ability to make group decisions. So we did. Through working life, love life, young unexpected fatherhoods, tragedy, loss, addiction, substance abuse, and sometimes stretches of unemployment. We found ourselves and funded ourselves and managed ourselves until it was time to roll all of our shared experience up into a ball and bury it into this work. It’s a point of pride for us. And a precursor to a determined future that is yet to come.”

A reputation that has sold out the iconic Nottingham venues The Bodega and Rough Trade, and ventured to London at Camden’s Fiddler’s Elbow, the live essence of high-octane festival sets that have earned them a fiercely loyal fanbase is on full show in this debut. A band now fully forged and ready to sharpen.
