Hailing from Texas, though born in Mexico, Sara Angel makes a return as she unveils her latest single, ‘what’s love?’. A striking emotional pop-ballad, fuelled by her natural flair for rhythm and melody, the single strikes a resonant chord as she looks to cement herself as a rising star.
Starting with the humble shimmer of a piano, Sara’s voice, brimming with emotion and heartbreak, pours out across the soundwaves. As the track grows, its melodies and refrains begin to become more detailed and alluring, with all roads heading towards the epic release of the chorus. Angel also performed the track in session, stripping back the studio magic to something that feels more raw and punchy. Featuring just an acoustic guitar and gentle piano chords, the stripped-back offering really demonstrates the emphatic, vulnerable nature of the single, putting all of the song’s emotions on display. With her undeniable talent and infectious knack for songwriting, something tells me this won’t be the last we hear of Angel.
Sara shares, “‘what’s love?’ is about loving someone who’s already gone. It’s holding onto memories that still feel real, even when you know they’re not coming back. It’s the kind of love that hurts because it never had a chance to stay.”
