POLI NIKA crafts a cinematic soundscape of hope in jazz-pop EP ‘Remember Why’

Indie-pop artist POLI NIKA returns with ‘Remember Why’, a luminous new EP that channels jazz, soul, and gentle pop into a warm, introspective journey. Rooted in themes of healing, renewal, and self-discovery, the project showcases her gift for blending tender lyricism with emotive, delicately layered vocals.

Now based in Lisbon, POLI NIKA has become a cherished presence in the city’s indie scene since relocating from Russia in 2022. Her music, often described as cinematic and comforting, captures a rare balance of vulnerability and clarity reminiscent of Jordan Rakei, Lizzy McAlpine, and Emily King.

After a series of singles in 2025, ‘Remember Why’ arrives as both a culmination and a fresh chapter. “Every bright song on this EP comes from knowing its opposite first,” she shares, framing the record as a testament to emerging from darkness with renewed purpose.

The opening track, “Sunny Days” co-written with acclaimed songwriter Liz Rodrigues (Eminem, Celine Dion), glows with laid-back jazz-pop warmth. It reflects on rediscovering creativity after a long emotional winter, carried by POLI NIKA’s smooth phrasing and a quietly radiant arrangement.

The title track serves as the EP’s emotional centre, a soulful, brass-laced reminder to return to one’s passion. Produced by Theodore Lion and performed entirely with live instruments, the record breathes with organic texture: trumpets, flutes, keys, and guitars arranged with human warmth at the forefront.

A refined blend of jazz, pop, and neo-soul, ‘Remember Why’ captures POLI NIKA’s evolution as an artist embracing both light and shadow. It’s a heartfelt, immersive listen. music made for reflection, healing, and remembering what truly matters.
