Nico Zaca has just unveiled his new single ‘I Could Only Ever Love You,’ which mixes emotional songwriting with layered electric guitars to create a song that listeners can relate to.
The track talks about love, distance, and trying to connect with someone who may not feel the same way.
A big theme throughout the song is longing. Lines like “You’re out there making other plans” show someone holding onto feelings while the other person seems far away. Zaca also touches on the frustration of wanting to explain emotions that are hard to put into words. The lyric, “If I could make you truly understand / Don’t you think I would’ve already tried,” captures that feeling perfectly.
The song also has its hopeful moments. Lyrics about “Seeing God in everyone around me” and being “Moved to tears by ordinary life” show someone finding meaning in everyday moments.
The repeated line “I could only ever love you” feels less like obsession and more like acceptance, loving someone because it has become part of who you are.
This new single is also an important step for Nico Zaca musically. He shared that “every song prior to this was conceived solo in my bedroom with a guitar and an AudioBox.” This was his first studio single using live drums at Noise Floor Studios.
That fuller sound helps bring more depth to the track while keeping the raw honesty that he has become known for.
Listen to ‘I Could Only Ever Love You,’ out now.
