Emerging from London’s vibrant pop-rock underground, Nico Cann delivers a compelling new single that bridges decades and emotional landscapes. Titled ‘Lose My Mind’, the track arrived on August 29, 2025, and marks another leap forward for the artist who’s quickly becoming known for pairing throwback sonics with deeply personal songwriting.
Produced by longtime creative partner Thomas Mitchener, the song opens with a warm, chorus-drenched guitar hook courtesy of a vintage Roland Jazz Chorus 120—a tone that instantly evokes a sense of wistful familiarity. It culminates in a blistering guitar solo performed by Nicholas Richards, a close friend and collaborator, bringing the song to a cathartic close.
Lyrically, the single explores the elusive nature of memory and innocence, painting a picture of a love that may never have truly existed but continues to haunt.
“It’s about a version of the past that we romanticise—a feeling of purity before life became complicated,” Cann explains. “There’s something about that imagined version of youth that still feels so real, even if it wasn’t.”
The idea first took root in early 2023 during a writing trip to Milan, where Cann began shaping the song’s reflective tone. Along the way, subtle influences emerged—especially from Bruce Hornsby and Don Henley’s ‘The End of the Innocence’, a track Cann often cites as formative. But while echoes of classic songwriting linger in the background, it’s Cann’s own voice—equal parts grit and yearning—that cuts through. His delivery recalls the raw sincerity of Bruce Springsteen, tinged with the atmospheric melancholy of Jack Antonoff, and the bruised barroom poetry of Sam Fender.
“There’s a spirit in 80s music—a sense of creative freedom and optimism—that I really connected with while making this,” says Cann. “I wanted to bring some of that feeling back into a time that’s gotten heavier and more cynical.”
Nico Cann isn’t new to making waves. His debut single ‘Runnin’ in the Rain’, recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, first put him on the radar. Follow-up track ‘Light Over the Ridge’ earned a spotlight feature in Rolling Stone UK, and support quickly followed from Billboard Italy, TG1, and iHeartRadio Live. His live shows, including a sold-out hometown performance in Milan with his band ‘The Air Traffic’, have only furthered his reputation as one to watch.
Next up: a London headline show on October 24, promising more of the cinematic energy and unfiltered honesty that fans are beginning to expect from Cann.
‘Lose My Mind’ is streaming now on all major platforms.
