Born in Dubai with Indian roots and now based in Australia, MUKI continues to carve out a space defined by vulnerability and restraint on his latest single ‘Reflections’. After debuting earlier this year with ‘Gasoline’, the indie-alt artist builds on that foundation with a sound that feels more refined and self-assured.
Where many artists lean into volume to convey intensity, ‘Reflections’ takes a more measured approach. The track opens simply, with finger-picked guitar and a steady pulse that never feels rushed. From there, it grows in small, careful steps. Layers come in, then fall away again, but the focus never really shifts from MUKI’s voice. There’s a softness to it, but also moments where the cracks show through, giving the song a sense of honesty that feels lived in rather than performed.
Written in the aftermath of lockdown, the track explores identity through the lens of choice and consequence. “It’s the small decisions we make that shape who we become,” MUKI explains, framing the song as a reflection on alternate paths and the person that emerges from them.
