Molly Healey unveils ‘White Noise,’ a haunting, high-voltage glimpse into her orchestral dance universe

Instrumentalist, composer, and sonic trailblazer Molly Healey returns with “III. White Noise,” a stunning reimagining of a fan-favourite track from her 2019 album Circles, and the newest preview of her forthcoming LP With the Wind: An Orchestral Dance Music Suite. The single marks a bold new chapter for Healey, whose self-coined genre, Orchestral Dance Music (ODM) continues to push the boundaries of what strings, synths, and rhythm can convey.

With over a decade spent “bringing the orchestra to the rock show”, including her long-running role as fiddler for the legendary Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Healey has cultivated a singular sound that blends classical instrumentation with the immersive textures of electronic music. “III. White Noise” is the clearest, most electrifying expression of that vision yet.

From its first breath, the track unfurls with cinematic intensity. Layer upon layer of violin, cello, and spectral vocal harmonies swirl through pulsing electronic beats and atmospheric synths, building a world that feels as intimate as it is expansive. Drawing on elements reminiscent of Radiohead’s emotional tension, Massive Attack’s trip-hop shadowplay, and AURORA’s icy mysticism, Healey crafts something unmistakably her own: a soundscape that aches, glows, and moves with purpose.

Lyrically and emotionally, “III. White Noise” wrestles with themes of isolation, self-doubt, and the numbing haze of modern life.

“White Noise is a song that I’m deeply connected with; the lyrics are personal, the string arrangements are my modus operandi, and the mood comes from my dreamscapes when I close my eyes at night,” Healey shares.

Entirely recorded in Healey’s home studio, the new version showcases her sharpened production instincts and collaborative synergy. The track features beats and FX by Dave Tough (Belmont University), mixing by Tyler Norris (Ma6io), and mastering by Duncan Ferguson (The Voltage Exchange), a trio that amplifies the song’s emotional gravity and dance-floor pulse. An animated music video, currently in production, promises to expand the single’s dreamlike world into a full visual odyssey.

As anticipation builds for With the Wind, “III. White Noise” stands as a defining moment in Healey’s artistic evolution: dark yet luminous, orchestral yet kinetic, deeply introspective yet impossible not to move to. It’s rare to find music that feels both ancient and futuristic in the same breath—but for Molly Healey, that balance is exactly where her magic lives.
