Not every important conversation reaches a proper conclusion. Some drift away, leaving people to figure out the rest for themselves. That idea sits at the centre of Meli Foster-Turner’s debut EP, unfinished conversations, out now via Now Listen.
Across six tracks, Foster-Turner reflects on changing relationships, friendship and the uncertainty that often comes with growing up. Rather than searching for neat resolutions, the songs recognise that some experiences continue to shape people long after they happen.
“Narcissist” provides the clearest turning point, following the process of recognising an unhealthy relationship before arriving at a place of renewed confidence. It gives the EP an emotional anchor without overshadowing the rest of the material.
Elsewhere, songs including “Habit”, “Wishful thinking” and “Serendipity” expand on the record’s central themes from different angles, creating a collection that feels connected without repeating itself.
The musical backdrop stays understated, making the lyrics feel like part of an ongoing conversation rather than polished statements. That approach suits the subject matter, giving every song the space it needs.
Instead of claiming to have all the answers, unfinished conversations recognises that life’s biggest lessons often arrive before everything makes sense. That’s exactly what gives this debut its appeal.
