Lydons release thundering single ‘Charley’

Newcomers from the Black Country, Lydons, have returned with their second single ‘Charley’, following with the noise and intent of ‘TONGUE’, the debut released earlier this year. The track has been released by Magic Garden Recordings — a joint venture between Warner Music Group, Magic Garden Studios, and Revolver Records.

‘TONGUE’ provided their unveiling with a sense of rawness and an uncompromising nature. ‘Charley’ now takes a new turn, channelling the energy into arpeggios that give way into a roaring indie sound. It’s still explosive, no doubt, and its sense of urgency echoes the spirit of the new champions of the UK and Ireland scenes.

In the band’s words, “‘Charley’ is a love letter to our childhood. The long summer days when nothing mattered except the moment. It’s about growing up in the Black Country, kicking a ball around until the sun went down, and holding on to the magic that shaped us. We wrote it to honour the people and places that made us who we are: family, friends, and the raw beauty of ordinary moments. There’s joy in it, but also a sadness that those days can’t come back. The chorus hook, ‘Charlie please’, is us calling out to a time when things felt simple and full of light. It’s nostalgic, but not stuck in the past, and it’s about carrying that feeling with us to help find strength in remembering where we started.”

Quickly carving out their place, Lydons brim with post-punk ethos and have already received plenty of radio airplay. It’s early days, but they have a uniqueness that isn’t found every day. So give them a listen, and you’ll be among the first, but the first of many nonetheless.

‘Charley’ is out now!
