As always, setting the tone with a sleek but tongue-in-cheek single, Kam Boora has released his first outing of 2026, ‘What About Me’. The Gravesend rapper brings a thread of reflection into a bouncy, self-assured flow and a punchy, soulful vocal sample.
The production isn’t overcrowded, but feels full; the steadiness of the rhythm and melody is the perfect balance to a fierce, high-momentum delivery from Boora. The hook, which becomes more infectious with each iteration, by no means takes away from the unique bars and flows lining the verses.
The track was written partly as an ode to growth and success, the need to centre yourself rather than get caught up in the pace of it all. Kam shares, “I definitely went in on this one… ‘What About Me’ was written at a point where I was doing a lot of travelling, meeting new people and being around different energies, which naturally led to a lot of self-reflection. In this case, I actually found that process fun. For me, the main thing with this song is checking back in with yourself and staying grounded in your experiences, what keeps you going and where you come from.”
Championed by BBC Asian Network, working with notable producers and performing at the likes of The Mick Jagger Centre, O2 Academy and Brixton Jamm, Kam Boora has showcased a cheeky personality and woven his music with a blend of UK contemporary rap and pride in his Punjabi heritage.
