Joe Hearty’s debut album, ‘Down’, sets reflections on grief to pop melodies and theatrical arrangements across ten standout tracks. Building on his previous single of the same name, ‘Down’ was recorded across several cities, growing out of personal upheaval and memories of Joe’s late father. The tone it strikes is colourful, tender, and full of energy.
Discussing the release, Joe explains:
“I recorded most of the record in late 2024-2025, between Liverpool, London and Athens with an additional session in Hydra. It was a year or so fraught with various life-altering events, so it took me a while to finish it. In many ways, I think finishing the record helped me fully digest what had happened – or at least gave me a compass to navigate the last couple of years.”
Joe’s instinct for pop-writing has produced an album full of character, crafted carefully whilst leaving room for spontaneity – all of which he’s bringing to London’s The Old Library on October 22nd.
