JK Jerome delivers atmospheric new single ‘I Just Want to Soar’

‘I Just Want to Soar’ is the uplifting new single from Shropshire songwriter JK Jerome. This deeply personal account of loss, acceptance, and renewal marks the start of a bold new phase. There is a freedom to be found in letting go, and ‘I Just Want to Soar’ embraces such themes, with a minimal arrangement that brings the emotion of the track to the fore.

JK explains,“this song is about aspiration, the journey of being in a band and dreaming big and having to let go later on. It’s about coming to terms with that loss and then finding the strength to start again on my own terms. To discard aspirations of success as an end and to see the journey and the need to keep creating as the reason in itself.”

“It’s also part of a move away from acoustic singer-songwriter material towards a more experimental sound,” he continues. “Inspired by glitchy textures, synth pads and electric analog delay. It’s also a celebration of finding the right person to work with and finally trusting in them to produce with a similar vision in mind”

Jerome arrives here with considerable experience behind him. Before launching this project, he performed live on BBC Radio 2 with Dermot O’Leary, recorded sessions with Mahogany and supported Goldfrapp. More than one million Spotify streams and appearances at Boardmasters, BST Hyde Park and the Isle of Wight Festival followed. His current work has since attracted support from BBC Introducing Sussex & Surrey and Amazing Radio in both the UK and US.
