My Favorite Brands is a diary of Jaryd✟’s life, with lyrics born from years of personal experiences. From college crushes to fleeting one-night stands, complicated relationships, and soul-shattering heartbreaks, each track captures a vivid emotional snapshot. The album’s clever twist lies in its track titles, which appear as brand names but conceal acronyms woven into the lyrics, a nod to Korn’s iconic A.D.I.D.A.S. from 1997. Songs like N.I.K.E.and S.A.M.S.U.N.G. dive into dark, sensual narratives, while A.D.I.D.A.S. conjures ritualistic, almost forbidden imagery, each accompanied by videos that amplify the emotion behind the words.
This project came together organically, pieced together like a diary Jaryd✟ didn’t realize he was writing. Recorded primarily in a home studio with contributions from trusted friends, the sound remains deliberately unpolished, prioritizing honesty over perfection.
