With his second offering of 2026, James Bambu is back with the moreish single ‘Bossa Nova’. Hailing from Atlanta and having spent the last ten years in New York, that old-school Atlanta and Miami Bass sound comes to the fore. Pounding kick meets sultry fast-paced vocals and rich bass grooves, with glowing production from Hensley.Sg.
James discusses the track, explaining:
“I’m from the south, and I’ve been in New York for a long time now, so it’s funny to me that I haven’t yet had a song that speaks to my experiences with being immersed in club culture in New York, but also references and is influenced by southern lyricism, like “Bossa Nova”. I grew up in Atlanta with Trap Music and Atlanta Bass, so sometimes when there’s a heavy bassline, like with Jersey Club, I tend to naturally dive into more old school ideas sonically, so I love that this is how this song came about.”
Ready to step into the next phase of his career, James has already received backing from key tastemakers, including COLORS, Complex, and Apple Music. James’ genre fluid sound, incorporating commercial pop, nostalgic RnB, with roots in Soul and Gospel, it’s James’ individuality that sets him apart from the rest, with ‘Bossa Nova’ being the exemplar of that.
