New York’s Indira Ellis has unveiled a reimagined version of her recent single ‘Spellbound’. This time, it’s electrified with the roar of distorted guitars and a visceral alternative core.
A fearless new take on the single, it trades the elegant polish for assertive power. The elements that were once sleek are now laced with punch and grit. Echoing the early 2000s nu-metal sound with the same popstar flourish Indira is known for, it’s refreshing to see this bridge between two sides of the same artist.
Indira explains, “I wrote this single about the experience of being spellbound by a stereotypical ‘bad boy’. It felt like a fall breeze in that it was chilly, and didn’t last long enough. For this version of Spellbound, I was really excited to lean into the alt-rock/nu metal sounds that scored my teen years.”
A classically trained vocalist turned genre cocktail bartender, Indira Ellis grew up steeped in musical theatre. Finding her voice through pop, rock and a move to New York, she has merged her artistry with personality, using music as a diary of life’s ups and downs; self-discovery, catharsis and heartbreak.
