Futurecop! returns with expansive new single ‘So… Far Away’

Manchester’s synth-wave dynamist Futurecop! is making his long-awaited return with nostalgic gem ‘So… Far Away’. The single provides the first glimpses of his forthcoming album Wind, Town & Flowers, set for release later this month, and once again blends the shimmering synths of the ‘80s with a bridge into the pop prowess of the present.

A swirl of colourful synth toplines, lush melodies and dynamic drum machines gives the track a Daft Punk-esque look between the retro and contemporary, harnessing the familiarity and sending it soaring into another dimension.

In a teaser for the album, Futurecop! shares it’s about “telling a story of growing up, coming of age, and returning older to where they grew up. Musically, it fuses electronic, synthwave, R&B, dance, pop, rock, and even liquid drum & bass, creating a diverse but cohesive journey. Each track is meant to feel ethereal and uplifting, inviting listeners to reconnect with their memories and find their own story within the music.”

Futurecop! was founded in 2006 by Manzur Iqbal, the mastermind behind a love letter to pop culture from the past. Over the years, releases have often seen serious attention, garnering millions of listens and earning the music movie features and the producer opportunities for high-profile remixes. Wind, Town & Flowers, is the latest step in that fairytale, a new chapter bursting with imagination.
