Futurecop! releases expansive new album ‘Wind, Town & Flowers’

Futurecop! has released his long-awaited album Wind, Town & Flowers after teasing a return with ‘So… Far Away’ late last month. It’s the first full-length expedition we’ve seen from the Manchester artist since 2023, and reaffirms his speciality of blending neon-drenched nostalgia with forward-thinking electronic production. Overall, it’s a bold step forward hidden within a charming return to form.

Across the thirteen tracks of the record, Futurecop! fuses synth-wave, dream-pop, R&B, liquid DnB and commerciality into one cohesive journey. It’s fuelled by a rose-tinted sentimentality, but harnesses that love of the 90s as a retro-futurism, paying homage to the classics with a sound made for the 21st century.

Manzur Iqbal, the man behind Futurecop! dives in, “Wind, Town & Flowers is my most expansive and refined work yet, both in production and in storytelling through music. I wanted to capture that warm, nostalgic feeling with modern sounds, blending synth-driven melodies with cutting-edge production, like the soundtrack to a movie that doesn’t exist. Inspired by retro synths, classic films, and mostly 90s Japanese TV dramas, I discovered while making the album.

Telling a story of growing up, coming of age, and returning older to where they grew up. Each track is meant to feel ethereal and uplifting, inviting listeners to reconnect with their memories and find their own story within the music.”

Long celebrated for turning retro pop culture into euphoric new soundscapes, he’s released a slew of albums since starting in 2006, but Win, Town & Flowers no doubt tells new stories and reaffirms his place as an imaginative storyteller.
