Divorce Attorney, an art-rock five-piece, has arrived with their debut EP, Always Something, a four-track talent showcase of genre-bending intentions. Post-punk, shoegaze and psychedelia all have moments where their head is reared, providing an agile and arresting final product.

Opener ‘Got Lost’ was the recent teaser single, featuring a driving bass line, swelling electronics and energetic drums. ‘Blind Eye’ brings in a new mystique, next, swaying and haunting with an eerie piano appearing next to atmospheric guitars, leading audiences to a booming climax.

‘Align Me’ is then brooding and jagged, shaking up the bottle before letting the kinetic intensity burst. Final track ‘Eulogy’ brings together the whole sonic ideology. Otherworldly and calculated at first, with poetic inclination, the middle section sees the band sit back in a lull in the abyss, before launching out with a raw and raucous moment to see us out.

In the words of frontman Nathan Key: “A lot of the influences into the EP were 80’s to Noughties goth and post-punk and from that one of the principles going into the project was to make something still in line with the gothic aesthetic, but also danceable so people at our shows can engage in a way they want to receive the music.”

Touring across the UK, seeing them appear at The Windmill, Green Door Store and Wanderlust and supporting SANAM (Beirut), Alien Chicks, and University, the band have built plenty of momentum towards this debut EP moment, and it certainly pays off.
