London songwriter Colin Tyler recently dropped a single entitled ‘Four Wheel Drive’ alongside a music video. With charming, classic indie-rock foundations, Tyler tells a story of liberation and new beginnings.
Infectious from start to finish, each chorus deepens the earworm. Riffs are bright and raw, vocals are joyful, and the drums are driving. It’s endlessly heartfelt, a little bit of old school finding its place in the contemporary space. Tyler’s songwriting skill and musicianship are clear, and you’ll feel as empowered as the subject of the story by the end of the four-minute runtime.
He shares, “I wrote the song as a catchy, upbeat old school Rock tune about a woman leaving a bad relationship and starting a new life in the modern world.”
Embarking as a solo artist after building his reputation as part of the rock outfit Silent Frenzy, Colin Tyler’s writing and stagecraft bring folk-rock from eras gone by into a new and timeless setting. Releasing his solo tracks since 2020, he shows no signs of slowing down, having his biggest year in 2025.
