Broken Colours deliver ode to the strength of friendship ‘Brother’

High Wycombe outfit Broken Colours have unveiled their latest single ‘Brother’, teeing up the release of their forthcoming EP with this final teaser single. In their latest era, the electrifying four-piece has found a sense of heartfelt honesty that balances their high-energy moments with softer, poetic releases.

‘Brother’ falls into the latter category, speaking to resilience and the necessity of a strong friendship to fall on in difficult times. Amongst raw acoustic guitars and steadying drums, the lyricism is powerful and tender, revealing wounds and emotions often kept beneath the surface. The vulnerability acts as a catharsis, a charm in its grounded arrangement.

The band add, “We wrote Brother about the Band of Brothers we were in, but mainly about Umar, as we started this latest project together. When I met Umar, a couple of our old band members were leaving, and I was in a dark place; meeting him was fate. This song furthermore is about unity and hope, in such harsh times, this is all we have.”

Drawing on a broad set of influences and defining a sound distinctly their own, Broken Colours released their self-titled EP in 2016. Touring the UK, Denmark and Italy, sharing stages with Jack Bugg and The Zutons, their live shows have become must-sees, and now their reputation is equalising that acclaim with their recorded music.
