Bedstudy deliver a powerful trans love story in the visuals for ‘Ø (Arms Away)’

Brooklyn indie band Bedstudy have unveiled the video for their dreamy new track ‘Ø (Arms Away)’.

Ø (Arms Away)‘ is an atmospheric piano-led track which is both undeniably haunting and woozy. The new visuals for the track were directed by Moses Moreno and Richie Duque and follow a young genderqueer protagonist (played by model Lia Bass). The video depicts the struggles of violence many transgender people still face today as the narrative plays out like a modern day love story. Watch powerful visuals for ‘Ø (Arms Away)‘ below.

Baldwin and Plakon, the duo behind this striking piece of music, explain that the song was “written around the time of Orlando’s Pulse shooting“. Speaking to Papermag, where the video premiered, the pair described how although the song and visuals are not directly linked to the tragic shooting in Florida they “have lived in [Orlando] and know people who were impacted directly“.
