Singer-songwriter from London, Alto Key, has returned with his new single ‘how lucky i am’, the latest of his heartfelt renditions that blend contemporary pop with a message of hope and honesty. It’s his first release of 2025, and the opening chapter of a new EP you’re honestly doing so well, arriving next month.
It starts with the pulse of the synth, reinforced by a gently pumping kick drum. As the atmosphere bounces in the low end, the rest of the instrumentation is made of floating atmospheres and sharp stabs. In the vocals, both lyrically and in performance, Alto Key continues to be one of the most candid artists you’ll have the privilege of hearing. The sentiment is one of perseverance, of appreciating the little things we often neglect.
Previewing the EP, he comments, “The entire EP is really a collection of songs all about uplifting people. The lyrics are all things I wish someone had told me when I’ve had my own struggles in life. Things like ‘you’re honestly doing so well’, ‘there’s a reason that I’m holding on’ and ‘nothing can hold me back’. Though I won’t list them all, I really hope these songs have the power to take somebody out there out of a dark place and give them everything they need to hear in that moment.”
Amassing a following of nearly two million across online platforms, Alto Key has harnessed quality, enjoyable content with a charming personality and gracious songwriting. Championed by BBC Introducing, editorials and synced to ITV’s Love Island, he’s also appeared on TV screens himself, featuring on E4’s Will You Marry Me?.
