Akhil Sahni has released his debut EP Puzzle, exploring across five tracks, romance, heartbreak and a search for connection in the modern world. At just 22, Sahni already carries the weight of maturity in his words, leading his ballads with the piano and decorating them with clean, reverberating guitar and swelling strings.
The intimacy pulls you out from the overwhelm, leaving you to assess what’s left. As the listener, you’re shown the love that almost fits but never quite works out. The central relationship is one marked by obstacles. However, through that, a smooth, soul-soaked atmosphere flourishes. There’s a brightness and almost gospel element that breeds hope amongst the sorrow, each flicker of optimism, a moment of light through the crowds. It’s contemporary, sure, but it carries the lineage of musical storytellers. It’s cohesive and poignant, but each new listen begins to map the tracks to your own journey, which is a talent few have mastered.
The artist shares, “Puzzle is a 5-track journey through the quest for a love that feels just out of reach—a search for ‘the one’ that always seems to have one missing piece of the puzzle. As modern relationships become more complex and layered with more variables than ever, you can meet the perfect person and yet still find that something’s in the way—distance, timing, family, circumstances… It’s never quite a complete picture.”
New Delhi-born and now based in London, Sahni’s audience has been steadily growing since 2021. The momentum he’s gained is expanding and solidifying through vulnerable writing and emotional depth. It’s a lovely debut, and listeners should be excited for where this debut will lead next.
