The most legendary Reading and Leeds Festival performances of all time

After another incredible offering from Reading and Leeds Festival this year, including stand out performances from Eminem, Giggs, Muse, Haim and more, we thought we would look back at some of the greatest sets to ever grace the stage at the U.K. festival.

Nirvana – 1992

Nirvana‘s headlining set was nothing short of triumphant. It can be said that this performance was a pinnacle in the band’s career, cementing their position on the world stage. Pushed onto the stage in a wheelchair and a hospital gown, Kurt Cobain would go on to deliver one of the most fierce and relentless performances of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘.

Radiohead – 1994

Prior to The Bends release, the band appeared on stage during the mid afternoon slot to showcase an incredible blast of new material. Their performance included live sessions of ‘Just‘, ‘The Bends‘ and ‘My Iron Lung‘.

Rage Against The Machine – 2000

The band’s ferocious rendition of ‘Guerilla Radio‘ brought one of RAGE’s most powerful performances to the U.K. that day. Their unforgettable set came just six weeks before the group finally threw in the towel and split, but they left one of the greatest performances behind for fans to remember them by.

Queens Of The Stone Age – 2005

Never ones to leave a crowd disappointed, QOTSA brought sheer energising fury to the stage back in 2005 delivering a set that’s still considered one of their best to this day. Even with his dodgy knee, Josh Homme brought the heat to the stage in 2005.

Giggs – 2017

Giggs showed everyone that grime most certainly deserves a place on the festival stages this year. With a legendary set bringing out his Toronto affiliate Drake to perform their track ‘KMT‘, the U.K. MC has secured his name in the hall of fame.
