The third Guitar Olympiad saw the young and very talented guitarist Owen Duveau defend the French flag in the jazz category.
The international event was created in 2023 by Yorgos Foudoulis, with the assistance of Unesco.
At just 18 he is not only the youngest partner of World Guitar Day but also a brilliant jazz guitarist, composer, arranger and performer, that possesses a profound musical sensibility.
Owen Duveau discovered the guitar at the age of eight, taking private lessons with Jean-Claude Welche in Pays de Gex, France.
He studied at the Annecy Conservatory in 2021 for three years and obtained his diploma Brevet d’Étude Musicale in classical guitar during his second year.
Owen’s beautiful and calming interpretation of ‘Sunrise’ led to him winning silver as the young guitarist delivered a truly beautiful and magical performance as he used his guitar to deliver sublime harmonies.
World Guitar Day is a world event which celebrates all styles of guitar at all levels and was created by Yorgos Foudoulis in 2021 with support from Unesco.
