Hailing from Saigon, Vietnamese artist Notyuting releases a trance tune ‘MO TROI’.
‘MO TROI’ is a music–visual project that blends modern trance with Vietnamese traditional folk music, created in celebration of 50 years of Vietnam’s independence.
Rather than retelling history through a literal narrative, MO TROI approaches independence from a contemporary perspective — as an emotional flow, where individuals are free to express their identity, thoughts, and dreams.
MO TROI unfolds as a visual dialogue between Vietnam of memory and Vietnam in transformation. The music video is set within the everyday spaces of Saigon: the aging apartment blocks of Cư Xá Thanh Đa and traditional street markets — places where life is displayed, traded, collided, and lived through the rhythm of Vietnamese daily existence. Alongside these scenes stands the image of Saigon’s modern metro system, symbolizing a city moving toward the future. By placing old apartment blocks and modern infrastructure within the same visual current, the film does not create contrast, but continuity — showing that Vietnam moves forward not by abandoning its past, but by carrying its memories, lived realities, and cultural identity into a global spirit.
