Makichi broke the monocultural mould with their indietronica album, ‘The Rain Stopped’.

Following on from the release of their latest album, ‘The Rain Stopped’, which released worldwide on March 6th, the Strasbourg, France-residing Iranian duo Makichi is gaining serious traction in the indietronica scene.

While striving for authenticity, many artists neglect listenability, but that discernibly wasn’t the case here. ‘Story (The Beginning)’ sets a hauntingly meditative tone for the 10-track album, through which Makichi aurally provided seven steps towards redemption and enlightenment. If there was ever a time when society needed direction towards the light, it’s now. And Makichi is all too happy to assist with their alchemic amalgamations of Persian music, downtempo psych, indie, art rock and darkwave electronic folk.

It’s safe to say that Makichi is succeeding in their mission of bringing a new level of feeling for those who listen to their music. It isn’t just the album title where you’ll find hints of powerful meta poetry. Makichi’s album combines works by famous Iranian poets with their own experience in and out of Iran, where the husband and wife duo created music in defiance of Islamic limitations. Since their relocation to France in 2017, they have been accoladed by Independent Music Awards and Global Music Awards.
